Seniors Okolie and Casillas Lead the Way at Osprey Open

Pomona, N.J. - Seniors Chris Okolie, David Casillas and three other seniors excelled at the Richard Stockton Osprey Open on Saturday, April 5th, as the men's and women's outdoor track team competed in their second meet of the season. Okolie qualified for the Nationals in the Discus Throw at the meet, while Casillas broke the school record in Hammer Throw.

The five seniors on the men's team led the way with some outstanding performances to pace the entire team. Senior captain Chris Okolie (Bronx, N.Y./Hills East) won the Discus Throw with a personal best throw of 47.95-meters (157' 3"). This qualifies Chris for the ECAC and Division III National Championships being held at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on May 22-24, 2008. Chris also placed third in the Shot Put and 7th in the Hammer Throw.

Senior David Casillas (Bay Shore, N.Y./Islip) won the Hammer Throw with a school record, ECAC qualifying throw of 47.97-meters (157' 4"). Five of David's six throws were over the former school record of 148'6" set in 1994 by Greg Lewis.

Seniors Reggie Routier (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) and Reuben Hairston (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) placed third and fifth, respectively, in the Triple Jump with ECAC qualifying jumps of 13.68-meters (44' 10 3/4") and 13.46-meters (44' 2").

Senior Akil Williams (Jamaica, N.Y./August Martin) placed 4th in the High Jump with a jump of 6'2" and ran the fastest leg (49.9) on the ECAC qualifying 4x400-meter Relay.
