Gillis and Ruggiero Lead Rams at Highlander

Newark, N.J. - The Farmingdale State Cross Country team ran at the Highlander Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. Junior Brandon Gillis (Hudson, N.Y./Hudson) and freshman Kristyn Ruggiero (Commack, N.Y./Commack) led the men's and women's teams to an 11th and 5th place, respectively.

Brandon ran 30:47 for the 8K course to place 32nd in the D2/D3/NJCAA race. Following Brandon were Tom DiCamillo (31:26, 42nd), Ray Thomas (32:10, 52nd), Eric Harris (35:21, 77th, a new personal best). The fifth man, Jason Chin Chitty, injured his ankle and placed 97th.

Kristyn ran a 21:28 for the 5K course, finishing 10th in the race. Following Kristyn were Teresa Cox (23:26, 23rd), Lama Awad (25:16, 34th), Danielle Zugajewicz (25:39, 46th) and Nicole Zarek (28:40, 51st). 

The Rams will run next at the St. John's Invitational on Sunday, October 14th at Cunningham Park in Queens, N.Y.
