Men Finish 2nd at CTC Championships; Gina Pierre Breaks School Record in Hammer Throw

Allentown, Pa. - The Farmingdale State men's outdoor track team placed 2nd on April 19-20th at the Collegiate Track Conference Championships held at DeSales University in Allentown, Pa, while the women finished 16th at the meet. The 2nd place finish for the men and the 104 points scored is the highest in school history. The Conference consists of 31 Division I, II and III schools. The meet was won by Division I Sacred Heart, who scored 126 points.

Gina Pierre broke the school record in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 37.40m (122' 8"). This broke the previous school record by six inches. Gina now holds the Indoor 20lb Weight Throw and the Outdoor Hammer Throw records.

Qasim Ellis - 1st place, Triple Jump, 13.35m (43' 9 3/4"), ECAC Qualifier. 3rd place, Long Jump, 6.55m (21' 6"), improves his ECAC Qualifier

Naveed Mohammed - 2nd place, 100m, 11.14, ECAC Qualifier. 5th place, 200m, 22.08, ECAC Qualifier. 4th place, Long Jump, 6.41m (21' 1/2").

Chris Herbst - 2nd place, 110m High Hurdles, 15.21. 4th place, 400m Intermediate Hurdles, 57.22.

Akil Williams - 2nd place, High Jump, 1.85m (6' 1")

Chris Okolie - 2nd place, Discus, 44.62m (146' 5"). 7th place, Shot Put, 13.44m (44' 1 1/4")

Kurt Johns-Harris - 2nd place, Triple Jump, 13.35m (43' 5 3/4"), ECAC Qualifier

The team will travel next to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. on April 24th - 26th.
