Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team fell to St. Joseph's College (14-8, 7-3) on Wednesday afternoon in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Martha Avenue Field in Bellport, N.Y. With eight conference games remaining, the Rams stand at 9-7 overall and fourth place in the conference with a 5-3 record.

In the first game of the day, Farmingdale built up a 3-0 lead going into the fourth inning before St. Joe's junior pitcher Jennifer Martinez (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bellport) hit a 4-run homer to give her team a 4-3 lead. Freshman pitcher Lauren Poplawski (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) went six innings on the mound, striking out two batters and allowing seven hits with no earned runs in the loss.

In game two, St. Joe's defeated the Rams 19-0 in four and a half innings. Freshmen outfielder Jennifer Riservato (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke) and first baseman Corinne Vinberg (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) got one hit each for Farmingdale.

The Rams will now travel to Newburgh, N.Y. on Friday, April 20th for a conference doubleheader against Mount Saint Mary College at 3:30 p.m.
