Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team (13-5, 2-0) swept a doubleheader against Skyline opponent Mount Saint Vincent (5-9, 0-4) this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Freshman third baseman Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) had a big day going 4-for-6 with two homeruns, a triple, six runs batted in, and two stolen bases.

In game one, the Rams jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning with a Farber 2-run homerun. Farmingdale State added six more runs for a 9-0 edge after three innings. Freshman shortstop Alexis Pennella went 3-for-4 with a triple and 4 RBIs.

Dolphins’ freshman pitcher Ariella Tirado (Newburgh, N.Y./Valley Central) led off the fourth with a single and scored their first and only run to break up the shutout.

In game two, the Rams jumped out to an early 12-0 lead after just 2 innings. Farber added her second 2-run homer of the day, followed by a 3-run homerun by freshman catcher Arielle Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot).

Mount Saint Vincent’s sophomore centerfielder Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, N.Y./Our Lady of Victory) hit a run-scoring triple in the third to break up the shutout in the second game.

Freshman pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) picked up both wins for Farmingdale, allowing 10 hits and striking out 11 for the day.

The Rams host Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, April 5th at Noon in Farmingdale, N.Y.
