Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State softball team swept a Skyline Conference doubleheader with 5-2 and 5-4 victories over Polytechnic (15-16, 8-4 Skyline) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. Freshman pitcher Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) picked up the wins for the Rams (19-9, 6-2 Skyline), starting the first game and as a reliever in the second.

Senior second baseman Amanda Sperling (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Farmingdale State offense, going 3-for-6 on the day, including a run-scoring single in the sixth inning of the second game to force extra innings. Sophomore first baseman Shannon Scudder (Seaford, N.Y./MacArthur) had the winning run-scoring single in the bottom of the eight to capture the victory. In the first game, Scudder added another RBI single while Sperling added a double.

Sophomore right fielder Laura Buzzard led the offense for the Fighting Blue Jays. Buzzard went 3-for-6, including a triple, two doubles, and two runs scored.

Farmingdale State plays next at Old Westbury tomorrow, Sunday, April 13th in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Noon.
