Softball![]() ![]() Softball Shuts Out John Jay in Doubleheader Sweep Game One Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State swept visiting John Jay College (11-19) today with two shutout wins, 8-0 and 9-0, in non-conference softball action in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 27-9 with the victories, allowing just five hits from John Jay, while hitting 23 of their own in the two games. Freshman Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) pitched a two-hit shutout in game one, striking out six batters, before sophomore Lauren Poplawski (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) pitched a three-hit shutout in game two with three strikeouts. Junior outfielder Kristina Cirillo (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) led the Rams with five hits and four runs batted in for the day. Freshman catcher Arielle Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) went 4-for-5 today, with two triples, a double and three runs batted in. Freshman shortstop Alexis Pennella (College Point, N.Y./St. John's Prep) was 4-for-6 with four runs scored. The Rams will travel to Troy, N.Y. on Friday afternoon for a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Russell Sage College at 4:00 p.m., before playing in their final regular season home game on Saturday, April 26th against Purchase at Noon. Saturday will be Senior Day for seniors Erin Dodge and Amanda Sperling. *****
