Softball![]() ![]() Rams Secure Second in Skyline with Purchase Sweep; Making First-Ever Appearance in Postseason Play Game One
In game two, sophomore Lauren Poplawski (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) pitched the second two-hitter of the day, going five innings and striking out four for her 9th win of the season, improving her overall season record to 9-5 with a 2.90 ERA. Freshman third basemen/shortstop Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) finished 4-for-7 today with two homeruns (one in each game), six runs scored and two RBI's. Junior centerfielder Kristina Cirillo (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) went 3-for-6 with four runs scored. With the wins, the Rams secured the #2 seed for the 2008 Skyline Conference Softball Playoffs, making their first-ever postseason appearance and receiving a Bye for the First Round games on Wednesday, April 30th. They will be back in action on Friday, May 2nd at host St. Joseph's College for the Second Round of the Skyline double-elimination Tournament.
