Skyline Semifinals

Game 1: St. Joseph's - 1, Mount Saint Mary - 0

Game 2: Polytechnic - 3, Farmingdale State - 2 (8th inning)

Selden, N.Y. - Second-seeded Farmingdale State (29-10) was upset by #3 seed Polytechnic (21-18) today in the Skyline Conference Softball Semifinal game held at Suffolk Community College in Selden, N.Y.

The Rams were tied 1-1 going into the 5th inning, before a 1-out double by freshman catcher Arielle Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot). On a wild pitch, Morelli moved over to third and then scored on a groundout by freshman third basemen Nicole Farber, giving the Rams a 2-1 edge.

Polytechnic tied it in the 7th with a 1-out groundout and scored in the top of the 8th inning, before the Rams went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 8th inning. Polytech advances to the Championship game today at 5:00 p.m., facing top seed St. Joseph's, who defeated Mount Saint Mary College in the other semifinal match-up.

Farmingdale State will now await news on whether they received a bid to the ECAC Championships, to be played next week on May 7, 10, 11.
