Old Westbury, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team improved to 9-6, 5-1 in the Skyline with a doubleheader sweep over Old Westbury (7-13, 0-6) on Saturday, April 14th at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Center in Old Westbury, N.Y. The Rams took both games by the run-rule with 18-0 and 13-3 wins.

Farmingdale scored 13 runs in the first two innings and added five more before the end of the fifth. Junior pitcher Jaclyn Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) pitched a one-hit shutout in game one. She struck out nine batters and walked three as the Rams rolled to the 18-0 victory. Junior third basemen Erin Dodge (Plainedge, N.Y./Island Trees) finished with two hits, three runs scored and four runs batted in. Senior Gina Moscato (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) had three hits, including a homerun, along with three runs scored and three runs batted in.

In game two, sophomore Rachele Fischer (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) got the 13-3 victory as she went five innings allowing six hits and striking out three. The Rams started off slow trailing 2-0 after the first inning, but tied it up in the second with RBI's from freshman outfielder Jennifer Riservato (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke) and freshman Lauren Poplawski (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees). Both teams added one run in the third for a 3-3 score going into the fourth. Farmingdale racked up 10 runs in the final two innings on six doubles, three singles and two walks to take their second conference win of the day 13-3.

The Rams currently stand in second place in the Skyline with ten conference games remaining. Farmingdale will travel to Bronx, N.Y. for a non-conference game at Lehman College on Tuesday, April 17th at 3:30 p.m.
