2007 Softball Season Recap

Coach Chris Mooney and the Rams softball team finished the year 11-14 overall with a Skyline record of 7-9. Farmingdale had 10 newcomers to the team and showed promise for next season with such a young and talented group of players returning.

Freshman pitcher and second basemen Lauren Poplawski finished the year 5-9 on the mound with a 3.19 earned run average. In 74.2 innings pitched, she struck out 49 batters and held the opposition to a .304 batting average. She pitched 11 complete games and had two shutouts, with just 11 walked batters. Junior pitcher Jaclyn Buckshaw will be graduating this year from the Nursing program and pitched her last season for the Rams with a 4.44 ERA and a 3-4 record. In seven outings, Jaclyn struck out 38 batters and allowed just 10 extra-base hits with a .291 batters average.

Senior second basemen Devan Weber led the team in batting average and on-base percentage, including 14 walks. She finishes her career with a .381 average, 98 runs scored, 94 hits, 33 runs batted in and 66 walks. Senior catcher Gina Moscato will leave the school starting all 89 games played for the Rams. In 283 at-bats, she accumulated 99 hits and a .350 batting average, along with a school-record 82 RBI?s and 63 runs scored.

Junior third basemen Erin Dodge started all 25 games and tallied up a team-high 24 hits this year. She finished second in at-bats (74), runs scored (16) and RBI's (16). Junior shortstop Amanda Sperling was the leader in at-bats with 76, along with a team-leading 20 runs scored. She made only 4 errors at short, with a team-high .960 fielding percentage.

Sophomore right fielder Kristen Dawes and junior centerfielder Ryan Woodiwiss combined for 32 walks. Dawes is ranked 17th in the Nation for hit by pitch per game with 5 total in 23 games. Woodiwiss started all 25 games for Farmingdale and had team-highs of 18 walks and five stolen bases.

Freshman first basemen Christina Weigel led the rookies on the team with a .349 average and 65 putouts. Freshman outfielder Kim Ferraiolo posted a .286 average this season with 10 RBI's.
