
Buckshaw Picks Up Tenth Victory on the Mound for Farmingdale State

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball
team (15-7, 4-2) swept Mount Saint Mary College (5-13, 4-2) in a
Skyline doubleheader this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Both
senior infielder Amanda Sperling (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and
junior outfielder Kristina Cirillo (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) had
four hits and two runs batted in today for the Rams. Sperling had
three doubles and Cirillo had two. Freshman pitcher Heather
Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) improved her record to 10-3
with the two victories, allowing just 4 hits by Mount Saint Mary in
game one and 3 hits in game two.
Farmingdale State won the first game 6-0, racking up ten hits. The
Rams scored two runs in both the second, third and sixth
inning.
In the second game, Farmingdale was up 2-0 after two innings and
the Blue Knights came back in the top of the third to tie it up.
Rams freshman shortstop Alexis Pennella (College Point, N.Y./St.
John’s Prep) reached first on an error, freshman catcher
Arielle Morelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) had a bunt single,
freshman third basemen Nicole Farber (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot)
reached on a fielder’s choice and then Cirillo had an RBI
double. Sophomore first basemen Shannon Scudder (Seaford,
N.Y./MacArthur) had a sacrifice hit to score Farber and then
Sperling had an RBI double to score Cirillo.
The Rams host Lehman College on Wednesday, April 9th at 3:30pm in
Farmingdale, N.Y.
