Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Rams improved to
17-7 overall today with 18-1 and 10-0 victories over non-conference
opponent Lehman College (0-14) today in a women’s softball
doubleheader in Farmingdale, N.Y. Sophomore pitcher Lauren
Poplawski (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) pitched four innings in
game one, allowing just two hits to improve her record on the mound
to 5-4. Freshman pitcher Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot)
pitched a one-hit shutout in game two and struck out seven for her
first collegiate win.
In game one, freshman infielder Alexis Pennella (College Point,
N.Y./St. John’s Prep) had five runs batted in for Farmingdale
State, while sophomore infielder Shannon Scudder (Seaford,
N.Y./MacArthur) had three hits and four RBI’s. The Rams
finished the game with a total of 12 hits, with six errors by
Lehman.
The second game tallied nine hits for Farmingdale State in the
shutout, with six Lehman errors. Senior outfielder Erin Dodge
(Plainedge, N.Y./Island Trees) had two hits for the Rams and
freshman outfielder Christi Lake (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Faith Academy)
had one hit and two RBI’s.
Farmingdale State plays next at Manhattanville College on Sunday,
April 13th in a non-conference game at 1:00 p.m.
