Farmingdale, N.Y. - The women's softball team
finished the season with an overall record of 32-12...and along the
way, broke nearly every record in program history, including two
first-ever appearances in postseason play. After being upset in the
semi-finals of the Skyline Playoffs by Polytechnic University
losing 3-2 in extra innings, the Rams received a first-ever ECAC
bid. They fell to FDU 9-1 in the semifinals, before defeating
Baruch 5-0 and bouncing back to knock out FDU with a 4-2 win to
advance to the ECAC Championship game against eventual champions
Richard Stockton.
Individually, six players batted over .300 for the team, who
finished with an outstanding .321 average. Four of the six were
first year players for the Rams. Freshman third basemen Nicole
Farber led the team with a batting average of .410 and led the team
with 11 homeruns, 50 RBI's, an .819 slugging percentage and 118
total bases. Her 11 homeruns shattered the school record. Freshman
Alexis Pennella hit .391 with a team-high 10 triples, and provided
outstanding defense from her shortstop position. Junior
centerfielder Kristina Cirillo finished the year with a .358
batting average and finished second on the team with 40 RBI's.

Amanda Sperling (.315) and freshman Christi Lake (.333) all hit
over .300 for the season.

for the team, finishing with a 19-6 record and an E.R.A. of 2.03.

151 innings pitched, as she held her opposition to a .209 batting
average. Junior Lauren Poplawski finished with nine wins and a 2.31
earned run average.

accomplishments this season, becoming the first two softball
players to receive this honor in program history. Buckshaw was also
named First Team All-Skyline, along with Farber and Cirillo, while
Pennella and Morelli were named to the Second Team and Coach Mooney
