Softball Sweeps Skyline Player/Rookie of the Week Awards

Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Farmingdale State
women's softball team swept the Skyline Weekly awards after posting
an impressive 10-2 record during their spring trip to Disney in
Orlando, Florida. Sophomore infielder/pitcher Nicole Farber
(Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was named the Skyline Conference Player
of the Week, freshman pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore)
was named Pitcher of the Week, and freshman infielder Aubrey Walker
(West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) was named the Rookie of the Week
in the Skyline's first week of spring reporting on Monday, March
16th.
Farber posted impressive numbers on the Rams' Florida trip. In 12
games, Farber batted .575 (23-for-40) with three doubles, six home
runs and 16 runs batted in. In addition to going 5-for-5 in stolen
bases, Farber also made two pitching appearances. In seven innings
of work, she allowed just four hits and no earned runs with 8
K’s.
Zino won all four of her starts on the team's trip. In 29 innings of work, Zino surrendered just 15 hits and two earned runs (0.48 ERA). She struck out 36 batters, while walking just seven. In her collegiate debut, Zino tossed a five-inning one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and just one walk in a 14-0 win over Newbury.
Walker earns Rookie of the Week honors, giving Farmingdale State
College a sweep of the weekly awards. Walker, one of four Rams top
start all 12 games on the team’s Florida trip, batted .475
(19-for-40) with nine runs batted in. She also was 3-for-4 in
stolen bases and struck out just two times in 44 plate
appearances.
