Farber and Zino Earn Skyline Honors
Lawrenceville, N.J. - Sophomore shortstop Nicole
Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was named Skyline Conference
Player of the Week and freshman pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore,
N.Y./Bay Shore) was named Rookie of the Week for softball on
Monday, March 23rd.
Farber continued her offensive assault for Farmingdale State
College last week. Farber batted .500 (9-for-18) with five doubles,
a triple, a home run, 12 runs batted in and a perfect 5-for-5 in
stolen bases. She currently has a 1.086 slugging percentage with
eight doubles, seven home runs and 28 runs batted in in just 18
games.
Zino remained unbeaten on her career with three victories last
week. In 16 innings of work against Briarcliffe, Mount Saint Mary
and Manhattanville, Zino surrendered just nine hits and one run
(0.42 ERA). She also struck out 26, including 10 in five innings in
an 8-0 win over Manhattanville. Zino is now a perfect 7-0 on the
season.
