softball team finished the regular-season with a sweep over St.
Joe's, winning 11-3 and 17-0, to improve to 30-4, 12-1 in Skyline
play. Senior outfielder Kristina Cirillo (Brentwood,
N.Y./Brentwood) and junior outfielder Kim Ferraiolo (Staten Island,
N.Y./Tottenville) played in their last regular-season home game for
In game one, Farmingdale was led by Ferraiolo, who went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI's. Junior designated hitter Shannon Scudder (Seaford, N.Y./MacArthur) was 2-for-3 with two RBI's, and freshman first baseman Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) went 2-for-2 with one RBI and three runs scored.
Sophomore shortstop Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) hit a lead-off homerun for Farmingdale State on their way to a 17-0 victory. Farber had one hit, two RBI's and three runs with two intentional walks. Freshman center fielder Kaitlin Keenan (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) was 2-for-2 at the plate, with two runs scored and three RBI's. Freshman third baseman Shelby Martin (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, while Cirillo had one hit and scored two runs for the Rams.
Freshman pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only four hits and striking out 10. Zino improved to 14-1 on the season and now holds a 1.13 ERA.
Farmingdale State will host the Skyline Playoffs, a double-elimination format, as the #1 seed and will face the #4 seed on Wednesday, April 19th at 3:30 p.m. The Rams are the host school for the final two rounds of the playoffs on Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd.
