Softball Has Four Players Named to ECAC Metro All-Star Team
Zino, Farber, Flint and Keenan named ECAC Metro All-Stars
Centerville, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference on Wednesday, August 3rd, announced its Division III Softball Metro All-Star Team. Junior pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was named ECAC Pitcher of the Year, while senior Nicole Farber (SS) (Oakdale, N.Y.), sophomore Kristen Flint (3B) (Brentwood, N.Y.) and junior Kaitlin Keenan (OF) (West Islip, N.Y.) each earned All-Star honors.
Zino, the Skyline Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, finished the season with a 20-3 record and held an impressive 1.29 earned run average. She struck out 187 batters, recorded 10 shutouts and held opponents to a .185 batting average. Hope set school single-season records for lowest ERA, lowest opp. batting average, most K's/7 inning game and threw two no-hitters and four one-hitters this season. Zino was named the Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive season.
Farber led the team and was ranked third in the Skyline Conference with a .437 batting average. She also led the Rams in hits (55), runs scored (42), at-bats (126), slugging percentage (.635), on-base percentage (.500), stolen bases (11) and assists (67). Nicole hit five home runs this year, which was third most on the team.
Flint started 38 games at third base and was third on the team and ninth in the conference with a .398 batting average. She had 41 hits, including seven doubles, as well as 28 RBI's and 27 runs scored. Flint held a .920 fielding percentage and tallied 48 assists.
Keenan held an impressive .432 batting average which was second best on the team and fourth in the Skyline Conference. Kaitlin was second on the team in hits (54), on-base percentage (.474), at-bats (125) and total bases (62). She committed only three errors from her centerfield position.
