2012 Softball Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The softball team captured the Skyline Conference Championship for the third time in four years and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament held at Christopher Newport University. The Rams dropped their first game to Christopher Newport 12-4 and fell to Salisbury 11-0 in the second game

The Rams were led offensively by freshman Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) who had team-high's in batting average (.446), doubles (13) slugging percentage (.594) and on base percentage (.452).

Junior catcher Jennifer Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) batted .363 with 10 doubles, 28 RBI and a team-high three home runs this season. Senior first baseman Aubrey Walker held a .331 average with 30 runs scored, 28 RBI and a team-best .992 fielding percentage, while senior outfielder Rebecca Richman (.325) (West Islip, N.Y.) has 30 RBI and 20 runs scored. Junior third baseman Kristin Flint (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the Rams with 34 runs scored this year.

Senior pitcher Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y.) posted a 9-8 record with 12 complete games, 104 strikeouts and a team-low 2.32 earned run average. Freshman pitcher Taylor Tedeschi (10-5) (Levittown, N.Y.) has an impressive 3.09 ERA with ten complete games and 62 strikeouts. Tedeschi threw a complete game shutout allowing only one hit against Sage in the Skyline Finals and was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Flint was named First Team All-Skyline Conference, while Walker, Jarczynski, Mongiello and Richman earned Second Team honors.
