Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team won the first game before falling, 7-6, in game two of this afternoon's non-conference doubleheader. The Rams now stand at 20-14 on the season.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Farmingdale State tied the game on a Jennifer Jarczynski (West Babylon, N.Y.) RBI triple down the right field line.
The Rams took a 2-1 lead in the fourth after an RBI single to left field by junior third baseman Dallas Anderson (Melville, N.Y.).
Sophomore pitcher Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) held Briarcliffe scoreless in the seventh inning to cap off the 2-1 victory.
Webb improved to 10-7 on the season after a complete game in which she allowed no earned runs and struck out four.
Jarczynski was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI, while freshman catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) had two doubles and a run scored.
In game two, the Rams trailed 7-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
Junior shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.) led off the inning with a double to left field and later scored on a Jarczynski RBI double. Freshman left fielder Meghan Acton (Levittown, N.Y.) hit a two-out RBI single to cut the Farmingdale State deficit to 7-5. Senior designated hitter Lauren Nelson (Levittown, N.Y.) hit an RBI single up the middle and was thrown out at second base as the Rams fell, 7-6.
Jarczynski and Nelson were each 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while sophomore center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) had two hits and a run batted in.
Farmingdale State next will face Sage in the First Round of the Skyline Conference playoffs on Friday, April 26th.
