New York, N.Y. - Three-time defending champion Farmingdale State has been selected to capture the 2014 Skyline softball crown in voting conducted by the league's eight head coaches.
FSC earned five first-place votes and 47 overall points, while defending regular season champion NYU-Poly finished second in the voting with 40 points and one first-place vote.
The Rams welcome back reigning Skyline Rookie of the Year Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.). Last season Anderson led the team in batting average (.399), hits (57), doubles (15), triples (3), home runs (4), on-base percentage (.427), slugging percentage (.629) and stolen bases (9).
First Team All-Conference outfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) returns for her junior season. Mongiello batted .301 with 11 doubles and 29 RBI, while senior infielder Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.) compiled a .406 on-base percentage in 2013.
Joining the Rams this season is junior outfielder Marissa Monaco (Bohemia, N.Y.). She is entering her first season at Farmingdale State since transferring from SUNY New Paltz.
