Rams Sweep on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team (19-11, 10-4) closed out the regular-season conference schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Purchase College (7-17, 1-13) today. The game also marked Senior Day for third baseman Dallas Anderson (Melville, N.Y.) and shortstop Hillary Genova (Brentwood, N.Y.).

In game one, the Rams went up 2-0 in the first and added four more runs over the next two innings to hold the 6-1 lead. In the fifth, sophomore catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a 2 RBI homerun to make it 8-1. Farmingdale State's junior pitcher Taylor Tedeschi (Levittown, N.Y.) struck out eight with no walks to improve to 8-7 on the year. Anderson finished 3-for-4 with three runs and 4 RBI's. Freshman first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 with a walk, one run and RBI.

Trailing 3-1 after four in game two, the Rams used a six run fifth inning to grab the 7-3 lead and eventual win. Genova scored the first run with a single to left, before Monaco knocked in two runs with a single to center. Genova scored the fourth run on a passed ball, while a Michalowski double scored Monaco for the fifth run and the final run was scored on an error.

Junior pitcher Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) allowed just four hits and one walk, while striking out 10 to improve her record to 9-4.

The Rams will end the regular-season with a home game on Tuesday, April 22nd at 3:30 p.m. against Briarcliffe. The Skyline Conference Championship will be played from April 25th-27th.
