Softball Has Three ECAC Metro All-Stars
- Michalowski named Rookie of the Year, Anderson First Team and Mongiello Second Team -
Centerville, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2014 Division III Metro Softball All-Star teams and major award winners. The voting was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division III Metro Softball membership.
Freshman first baseman Lori Michalowski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named Rookie of the Year. Michalowski played a vital role in helping the Rams advance to the NCAA tournament, batting .419 with 18 RBI and a .624 slugging percentage. She smacked 10 doubles, three home runs and scored 16 runs in 2014, which helped propel Farmingdale State to its fourth consecutive Skyline Conference championship. Michalowski ranked second on the team in home runs, third in batting average and on-base percentage (.460) and fourth in hits. For her efforts, she was also named the 2014 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year.
Sophomore catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) earned First Team honors after batting a team-leading .480 this season. Anderson also led Farmingdale State in slugging percentage (.756), on-base percentage (.529), runs scored (48), hits (61), doubles (18), triples (4) and stolen bases (6).
Junior outfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) was named a Second Team All-Star. Mongiello batted .358 this year with 43 hits, 16 doubles and a team-high 33 RBI. She recorded 11 assists and a .944 fielding percentage from her outfield position.
