Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State softball team earned a pair of five-inning run-rule victories, 14-4 and 9-1, over Sarah Lawrence College this afternoon to finish the regular season with an 11-5 record in the conference. With the wins, the Rams have clinched the #3 seed for the Skyline Playoffs and will host #6 St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in a First Round, single-elimination game on Wednesday, May 2nd.

Farmingdale State (15-17) would score three unearned runs in the first inning of game one to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.

After the Gryphons (16-16, 5-11 Skyline) scored a run in the top of the second, an RBI single by Rams junior shortstop Christina Rayfield (Commack, N.Y.) and a two-run double from junior third baseman Sierra Cardenales (Patchogue, N.Y.) in the bottom of the inning gave FSC a 6-1 advantage.

Still trailing by five in the top of the fourth, Sarah Lawrence freshman catcher Tricia McLain (Redding, Cali.) and junior second baseman Mikayla Cunningham (Mayville, Mich.) hit back-to-back doubles to cut the deficit to 6-2. Later in the inning, a two-run double to right-center by junior left fielder Baylie Petit (Sycamore, Ill.) allowed SLC to close within just two, 6-4.

The Rams responded in the bottom of the inning as they scored eight runs, capped off by a three-run homerun by freshman left fielder Lexie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.), to go ahead 14-4.

The Gryphons were set down in order in the top of the fifth as FSC won, 14-4.

L. Collard finished with three hits, three RBI's and three runs scored, while sophomore first baseman Jessica Lombardo (Levittown, N.Y.) was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Rayfield tallied two hits, two RBI's and two runs scored and both Cardenales and freshman second baseman Amaris Negron (Central Islip, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored.

Junior Jaxie Collard (Deer Park, N.Y.) (8-7) picked up her eighth win of the season as she pitched a complete game for the Rams.

In game two, Sarah Lawrence senior third baseman Riley Vuyovich (Toms River, N.J.) led off the game with a walk, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an RBI single by freshman right fielder Skylar Vallarta (Brea, Cali.) to give the Gryphons a 1-0 lead.

Farmingdale State quickly answered in the bottom of the first as junior right fielder Alexa Luna (Stuart, Fla.) hit a one-out triple and Lombardo followed with a two-run homer to left to put the Rams up 2-1.

After Sarah Lawrence loaded the bases with one out in the top of the second, freshman pitcher Nicole Gabay (Medford, N.Y.) produced a strike out and a fly out to end the threat.

In the bottom of the inning, sophomore catcher Kimberly Basile (Levittown, N.Y.) and Negron earned back-to-back walks to lead off the inning. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third, L. Collard hit an RBI single to center to extend the lead to two, 3-1. Three batters later, Rayfield hit a two-run single to increase the Rams advantage to 5-1.

FSC added a run in the third and three more in the fourth en route to the 9-1 game two win.

Rayfield finished game two with a season-high four runs batted in to go along with two hits and a run scored. Lombardo recorded two hits, a walk, two RBI's and two runs scored, while Luna went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Gabay (1-4) earned the win, pitching a complete game and allowing just three hits for FSC.
