Coach: Adam Waterhouse (2nd season)
Adam Waterhouse was hired in the Fall of 2006 with the opportunity
to develop Farmingdale State's men's and women's tennis programs from
scratch. In the first Varsity season (2007-08), he led the women to a
4-4 record and the men to a 5-7 record, both making appearances in the
Conference Tournament.
Coach Waterhouse was born and raised in Plattsburgh, N.Y. and is a 1980
graduate of Plattsburgh High School, where he qualified for the New York
State High School Championships three of his four years (1978, 1979, 1980).
He received a Bachelor's degree in Biology from SUNY Oswego in 1984.
While at Oswego, he played four years of tennis and was a team captain in 1983 and 1984.
Since college, Adam has been a part-time tennis pro and was the head coach
of the boy's and girl's tennis team at Plainedge High School from 1989-2006.
Starting in 2002, he has been the Director of three annual summer tennis camps through
Long Island Sports Camps.
Coach Waterhouse currently serves as the Coordinator of the Science
Department at Plainedge High School and teaches college level Biology.
He resides in Massapequa Park with his wife, Denise, and three kids,
Joseph, Katie and Matthew.
Assistant Coach: Kinga Polonska
Polonska comes to Farmingdale State to assist with both the women's and
men's programs. She is a former Division I player at Stony Brook, where at
1st singles and 1st doubles she recorded a 7-5 singles record and 8-3
doubles record during her first year. A 1999 graduate of West Babylon
High School, she played 1st singles for four years.
Polonska's degrees include a Bachelor's in Health Science from Stony
Brook (2003) and a Master's in Physical Education from Hofstra (2005),
along with a Health Certification (2008). For the past 9 years, she has
taught tennis at SPORTIME in Massapequa and currently works for the
Connetquot School District.
