Blakney Named to ECAC Metro All-Star Team
CAPE COD, Mass. – Farmingdale State sophomore guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) was named to the 2007-08 ECAC Division III Metro All-Star Team with Second Team honors, as announced by the ECAC on Tuesday, April 22nd.
Juniors Jessica McEntee of New York University and Hillary
Klimowicz from The College of New Jersey have been chosen as the
Co-Players of the Year, in a vote by the coaches of ECAC member
institutions. McEntee averaged a double-double on the season to
earn the University Athletic Association (UAA) Co-Player of the
Year honor, tallying 20.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per contest.
Last year's ECAC Co-Player of the Year, the forward finished the
season tied for ninth in Division III in scoring and tied for 19th
in rebounds. Klimowicz, the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC)
Offensive Player of the Year, put up double-double figures this
season with 16.9 points and 11.0 boards per game. The center
blocked 4.1 shots per game (fourth in Division III) and converted
over 64 percent of her field goal attempts (second in Division
III), leading the Lions to the NCAA Tournament.
TCNJ freshman Kelsey Kutch has been chosen as the 2007-08 ECAC
Division III Metro Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year, after
garnering the NJAC Rookie of the Year nod. The forward averaged
10.4 points and 6.7 rebounds the year.
Two players from a Kean University squad that went 28-4 on the
season and reached the Elite Eight were selected to the ECAC first
team. Junior guard Melissa Beyruti scored 19.0 points per game and
led Division III in three-point field goals with 108. Chari' Cooper
posted numbers of 11.6 points and 14.1 rebounds per game. The
senior center ranked third in Division III in rebounding.
Asia Johnson of William Paterson University is the fifth player on
the ECAC first team, after a season where she was named the NJAC
Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to averaging a
double-double with 13.5 points and 11.2 rebounds, the junior
forward also recorded 3.7 blocks per game - an average that ranked
her sixth in Division III.
Ebony Jackson, a third player from Kean to earn ECAC recognition,
was selected to the second team along with Kimberly Blakney of
Farmingdale State College, Sally Nnamani of Lehman College,
Chiresse Paradise from Baruch College, and Pamela Robinson from
SUNY Old Westbury.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference is the nation's largest
athletic conference and only multi-divisional conference, with 321
member institutions and over 122,000 student-athletes ranging from
Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. The ECAC

through the postseason all-stars. In women's basketball, the ECAC
awards one Division II all-star team and four regional Division III
