Rams Fall to Wheaton in Consolation Game
Wheaton College – 66, Farmingdale State – 53
New Paltz, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State
women’s basketball team lost to Wheaton College in the
consolation game of the New Paltz Tip-Off Classic on Saturday in
New Paltz, N.Y.
The Rams held an early 16-11 advantage until the Lyons went on a
17-4 run to close out the first half. Farmingdale State would go
into halftime trailing 28-20 after struggling offensively, shooting
31% from the field and going 0-for-4 from the free throw line.
The Rams would tie the game at 33 five minutes into the second
half, before Wheaton scored 12 unanswered points to take their
largest lead of the game. Farmingdale State went on to lose 66-53,
falling to 0-2 on the season.
Wheaton sophomore Jenny Champney (Bedford, Mass. / Bedford) was
the games leading scorer with 21 points in the contest. Junior
Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./ Benjamin Banneker), named to the
All-Tournament Team, scored a team-high 20 points and recorded six
steals for the Rams. Freshman Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y. /
Westbury) and junior Gabrielle Green (North Babylon, N.Y. / North
Babylon) each had ten rebounds for Farmingdale.
The Rams will host Baruch on Tuesday, November 24th at 7:00 pm.
