Blakney Leads Rams to First Victory

Brooklyn, N.Y. - Junior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) led the Rams to their first win of the season with 27 points, nine rebounds and nine steals over Polytechnic last night in Farmingdale State's first Skyline Conference game of the season.
The Rams (1-3, 1-0 Skyline) held a 10-point lead, 27-17, behind Blakney's 17 points and eight steals in the first half, before she added 10 more in the second and missed her second straight triple-double by just one rebound and one steal. Farmingdale State shot 40-percent from the field for the game, while Polytechnic (2-3, 1-1 Skyline) shot just 29-percent.
Blakney was followed by freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury), who finished with 14 points and two blocks.
Polytechnic was led by Margaux Pickell with the games only double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds. Consuelo Aranda scored 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Rams will now host Bard College on Wednesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8:00 p.m.
