Blakney and Hooks Take Skyline Weekly Awards

Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) and freshman guard
Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) were named the Skyline
Conference Player and Rookie of the Week for women's basketball on
Monday, December 15th.
Blakney, the Skyline Player of the Week, sparked the Rams to a 2-0
week by averaging 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 7.0
steals per game. Blakney, who currently leads the conference in
both scoring and steals, recorded 26 points, six rebounds and seven
steals in a Skyline win over Bard. She then posted 14 points, six
rebounds, six assists and seven steals in a 66-57 win over Oswego
State.
Hooks picked up her second Skyline Rookie of the Week award this
season. The Skyline Conference’s leading scorer among
freshmen (18.2 ppg), Farmingdale State College rookie Shemique
Hooks had a big week, averaging 20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0
assists and 4.0 steals in a 2-0 week for the Rams. Hooks had 10
points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals against Bard.
She then recorded season-highs of 30 points and 12 rebounds against
Oswego for her second double-double of the season.
