Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Farmingdale
State women’s basketball team traveled to Old Westbury this
afternoon and defeated the Panthers 104-92. The Rams improved to
11-4 on the season, 9-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the loss
drops Old Westbury to 10-7 overall, 6-4 in conference play.
Farmingdale State started the game slowly, trailing 41-35 at
halftime. Junior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin
Banneker) led the Rams with a game-high 35 points. Blakney also
recorded nine rebounds, five blocks, four steals and four assists.
Freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) scored 22
points, grabbed 10 boards and had nine assists, while junior
forward Gabrielle Green (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) added
17 for Farmingdale. The Rams outscored Old Westbury 69-51 in the
2nd half, en route to a season-high 104 points.
Senior guard Pamela Robertson (Wheatley Height, N.Y./Half Hollow
Hills West) led the Panthers with a team-high 34 points. Sophomore
guard Samantha Johnson (Queens Village, N.Y./Martin Van Buren)
recorded 27 points and three steals while junior forward Krystal
Garner (Staten Island, N.Y./Fashion Industries) had a team-high 11
rebounds.
Farmingdale State will host Skyline Conference opponent Polytechnic
on Tuesday, January 27th at 6:00pm.
