Farmingdale State - 75, St. Joseph's - 70

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Rams junior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) posted 49 points, a new school record, to help her team defeat St. Joe's tonight, 75-70. Blakney shattered her own record of 36 with the 49 point showing, as she shot 16-of-28 from the field and hit 14-of-18 from the charity stripe.

St. Joseph's held a 37-33 lead at halftime and the game remained close the entire second half. The Golden Eagles held an eight-point advantage with 4:37 remaining, before Blakney scored the next seven points for Farmingdale State, via four free-throws and a three-pointer, cutting the deficit to 65-64.

Corissa Stack (Patchogue, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) responded with two successful free-throws to push the lead to three, but a Tiffara Steward (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) free-throw and a Blakney three-point play would give Farmingdale a 68-67 edge. Another Blakney lay-up, a Dominique Cunningham (Amityville, N.Y./Copiague) free-throw followed by a Steward free-throw would secure the victory for Farmingdale State.

Blakney led the Rams in nearly every category, recording six steals, three blocks and grabbing nine rebounds. Freshman guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) was the second leading scorer for Farmingdale with 15 points, to go along with her five rebounds and three steals.

The Golden Eagles were led by junior forward Dana Carney (patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) who scored 13 points and had a game-high 17 rebounds. Junior guard Carissa Pirotta (Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored a team-high 19, while junior forward Trish McMahon (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) added 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
