Kimberly Blakney Named Skyline Player of the Year

Blakney Named Skyline Conference Player of the Year

- Junior guard is named Skyline women's basketball's top player -


Junior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) was named the 2008-09 Skyline Conference Player of the Year, as announced by the Skyline Conference on Monday, March 2nd.

The 5'11" junior is the Division III National Leader in Scoring (23.3 ppg) and Steals (5.9 spg), and 33rd nationally in blocks per game. She became Farmingdale's All-Time leading scorer this year on January 22nd and holds 1,359 points to date. Kim dominated the Skyline statistics rankings this season, as she led the Conference in scoring and steals, while also ranking 2nd in blocks, 6th in free throw percentage, 6th in assists, 8th in field goal percentage, 9th in 3-point field goals made, and 10th in Rebounding.

Kim was named the Skyline Player of the Week four times over the course of the season, was on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week once, and named the Met Basketball Player of the Week once. On February 12th against St. Joseph's, she posted a school record 49 point game, and just nine days later, had a 50 point game against the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Kim has now scored in double figures in 39 straight games, dating back to Jan 16, 2008.
