On Tuesday, October 13, Mary Carillo and Bob Costas will host one of the largest nights in Women's Sports. For 30 years, the Women's Sports Foundation has celebrated those athletes who've open doors for girls following in their footsteps. The dinner will feature special honorees Annika Sorenstam, legendary golfer and philanthropist; Dick Ebersol, Chairman of NBC Universal Sports & Olympics; and Pat Summitt, head women's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee and NCAA all-time winningest coach, for this spectacular evening.
The Wilma Rudolph Courage Award is presented to a female athlete who exhibits extraordinary courage in her athletic performance, demonstrates the ability to overcome adversity, makes significant contributions to sports and serves as an inspiration and role model to those who face challenges, overcomes them and strives for success at all levels. This award was first given in 1996 to Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
