Blakney Named 2009-10 Preseason All-American

- First female in school history to receive this honor -

Farmingdale State senior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brookyln, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker) was named to the 2009-10 Preseason All-America Team, as announced by on Friday, November 6th.

Blakney, the Rams All-Time leading scorer with 1,430 career points over three seasons and 71 games, is the first female in school history to be named a Preseason All-American. Blakney was named to the Third Team and will be leading the Rams this season, as they work towards capturing their first-ever Skyline Conference Championship.

In 2008-09, Kim was named the Skyline Player of the Year, First Team, All-Met First Team and ECAC Second Team, after posting 653 points and 153 steals over 27 games played. She averaged 24.2 points per game and 5.7 steals per game, which Led the Nation in both categories. She set a school record on February 12th, 2009, by scoring 49 points in a home win over St. Joseph’s and then bested that performance scoring 50 points against Mount Saint Vincent just nine days later (2/21/09).

In her sophomore season, Kim was named First Team All-Skyline and ECAC Metro Second Team honors, after leading the team in scoring with 439 points, averaging 17.6 points per game. In her rookie year, she joined the team just before the winter break and finished the season with team-highs of 17.8 points per game, 6.9 rebounds and 31 blocks.

Kim will sure be the player to watch this season, as her career stats with the Rams feature 1,430 points (20.1 per game), 518 rebounds (7.3 per game), 337 steals, 124 blocks and 32.9 minutes per game.

Farmingdale State opens the 2009-10 season on Friday, November 20th at the New Paltz Hawk Invitational against York (N.Y.) at 8:00 p.m., followed by a game on Saturday, November 21st against either New Paltz or Tufts.
