Rams Take Second at Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament

Sunday, Nov. 21st: Dickinson College - 66, Farmingdale State - 57


Carlisle, Pa. - The Rams took second at this weekends Days Inn Tip-Off Women's Basketball Tournament hosted by Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. Farmingdale State (2-1) posted a 60-32 win over CCNY (0-1), before falling in the Championship game against host Dickinson (2-0), 66-57.

Against CCNY, the Rams scored the first basket of the night and never looked back, holding a 29-16 lead at the half and allowing just 16 points in the second half as they improved to 2-0 on the year. Sophomore guard Jeanette Zubizarreta (Bay Shore, N.Y./Calhoun) led with a game-high 13 points on 4-of-6 from three-point territory.

  With the win, Farmingdale advanced to the Championship game to face Dickinson, who defeated Mary Baldwin College 73-58 on Saturday evening. The Rams held a 32-21 advantage at halftime, puling away in the second for an 11-point cushion, but Dickinson used an 11-0 run to tie the game at 44-44 with eight minutes to play. The Devils surged ahead to take the 60-50 lead and hit 8-of-10 free throws to defeat Farmingdale over the final minutes and take the Title.

Sophomore guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y./Roosevelt) finished with 16 points to lead Farmingdale. Freshman forward Natasha Smalls (Harlem, N.Y./St. Michael Academy) earned All-Tournament team honors, scoring 13 points and controlling 12 rebounds. Zubizarreta also earned All-Tourney honors, finishing with 10 points and four rebounds on Sunday.

The Rams will now face Baruch College in a non-conference game on Tuesday, November 23rd at 5:30 p.m.
