Rams Start New Year with Win over Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team, playing their first game of 2011, earned a 71-48 win over Skyline Conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent. The Rams improved to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Farmingdale State led 38-24 at halftime after holding the Dolphins (2-7, 1-5 Skyline) to 33 percent shooting before the break.
The Rams opened up a 26 point advantage as junior forward Mariel Rozon (Bronx, N.Y./Norman Thomas) hit a three-pointer with 11:01 remaining. Farmingdale State would hold at least a 20 point edge for the rest of the game en route to the Skyline Conference victory.
Junior guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) led the Rams with 10 points, while Rozon shot 4-of-5 from the field for nine points to go along with five rebounds. Senior guard Juanita Chappel (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) had a team-high five assists for Farmingdale State.
Mount Saint Vincent was led by freshman guard Sarah Kluth (Lynbrook, N.Y./St. Mary's) who had a game-high 13 points, while junior forward Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) pitched in with 12 points and 10 boards.
The Rams next will travel to Old Westbury for a Skyline matchup on Thursday, January 6th at 6:00 p.m.
