Rams Run Past Bears
Farmingdale State - 77, St. Joe's Brooklyn - 48
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team hosted St. Joseph's-Brooklyn tonight in a non-conference game on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Rams defeated the Bears, 77-48, to improve to 10-4 overall, while St. Joe's drops to 6-10.
At the break, the Rams held a 40-26 lead behind sophomore guard Nikita Green's (Roosevelt, N.Y./Roosevelt) 12 points. Sophomore forward Janine Doran (South Ozone Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) led for the Bears with seven points, while freshman forward Megan Moran (Syosset, N.Y./St. Dominic's) grabbed eight first half rebounds.
In the second half, Farmingdale State held St. Joseph's to 22 points to go on for the victory. Green finished with 16 points for the night, while junior forward Mariel Rozon (Bronx, N.Y./Norman Thomas) tallied 11 points and two steals. Junior guard Kayla Koch (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) finished with nine points, including 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. Senior guard Jasmine Davis (Freeport, N.Y./Baldwin) dished out a game-high six assists.
For the Bears, Moran finished with a game-high 11 rebounds, Doran finished with a team-high 12 points and sophomore guard Teresa Mangan (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Joseph's) was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Rams will now play at home on Thursday, January 20th at 5:30 p.m.
