Farmingdale, NY - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team improved to 2-3, 1-1 in the Skyline today with a 13-8 victory against visiting Centenary College (1-9, 0-2) in Farmingdale, NY. The Rams opened the scoring with a goal from freshman Nicole Brett (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) 1:02 into the game, before Cyclones sophomore Nicole Becker (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) evened the score at 1-1 a minute later. Farmingdale State would outscore Centenary 9-2 through the first to take a 10-3 lead into the half. The Cyclones came back strong in the second, scoring four goals in the first 15 minutes to make it an 11-7 game. But the Rams' freshmen Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) and Brett added another goal each, stopping the Centenary scoring streak to make it 13-7 with 4:20 left on the clock.
Rokee, this week's Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, finished the game with three goals and one assist for Farmingdale State. Freshman Jessica Kramer (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) led the team with six points (four goals and two assists). Brett and freshman Sam Bidermann (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) each had two goals apiece, while junior Gina Shore (Holbrook, NY/Sachem) and freshman Samantha Boeger (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) tallied one goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Andrea MacIntyre (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai) made five saves for the win.
For Centenary, senior Dana Pizzi (Rockaway, NJ/Vernon) scored three goals. Sophomore Clare Johnson (Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) finished with two goals and two assists, while Becker notched two goals and one assist. Senior goalkeeper Kristal McCullen (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) made 14 saves in defeat.
Farmingdale State travels to Montclair State on Saturday, April 8th for another Skyline Conference game at 1:00pm.
