Farmingdale, NY - The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team fell to 2-8, 1-4 in the Skyline with a 15-4 loss to Manhattanville College (5-6, 3-1 Skyline) in Farmingdale, NY on Saturday afternoon.
The Valiants wasted no time getting on the board as freshman Amber Winslow (New York, NY) scored an unassisted goal less then two minutes into the game. Freshman Abbe Grimes (New Hamden, CT) would tally her first of three goals in the first half just a minute later to put the Valiants ahead 2-0. Freshman Katie Bertel (Colorado Springs, CO) scored two more for Manhattanville before Farmingdale freshman attacker Theresa Rokee (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) was able to get on the board to cut the deficit to 4-1. Manhattanville scored six straight but the Rams were able to put one past senior goalie Katie Hand (Westfield, MA) with nine seconds left in the first half to cut the Valiants lead to 10-2.
The Valiants added five more goals in the second half, Hand earned the victory in net making seven saves. Farmingdale freshman attacker Jessica Kramer (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) scored one goal in the second and Rokee added her second goal of the day with two seconds remaining in the game. Manhattanville controlled draw controls 10-7 and also out hustled Farmingdale picking up 24 ground balls compared to the Rams 14. Sophomore goalie Janine Forman (North Massapequa, NY/Plainedge) made 22 saves in defeat for the Rams.
Farmingdale travels to Union, NJ on Tuesday, April 18th, for another Skyline Conference game against Kean University at 7:00pm.
