Janine graduated from Plainedge High School in 2004 and was a member of the first Plainedge women's lacrosse team, where she was named All-County and received the Coaches Award. Janine played one year at Buffalo State, before transferring to Farmingdale in the Fall of 2005. In her sophomore season, she was named Second Team All-Skyline after finishing with 18 saves per game (180 total). During her junior year, she was once again named Second Team All-Skyline and led the team to their first-ever ECAC appearance.

This past summer, she traveled to Australia to compete on behalf of USA Athletes International. Janine is the daughter of Jackie and Artie Forman.
