Rams Roll to Victory Past Dolphins

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State rolled to a 17-9 victory in today's Skyline Conference women's lacrosse game against the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 4-3, 3-0 in conference play, while the Dolphins dropped to 4-3, 3-1.
Mount Saint vincent got on the board first with a goal from senior midfielder Lauren Perla (Holbrook, N.Y.), before Farmingdale sophomore midfielder Emily Williams (Centerport, N.Y.) tied the game at 1-1 with a free position goal. Senior midfielder Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, N.Y.) scored another for the Dolphins for a 2-1 lead with 19:28 remaining in the first half, before Williams connected on another free position attempt to even the score at 2-2. Farmingdale scored the next three to hold a 5-2 advantage with 13 minutes left to play.
The teams traded goals in the final minutes of the first and would go into the halftime break with the Rams holding the 7-4 lead. In the second half, Farmingdale scored three straight to push the score to 10-4 and would control play throughout to secure the win.
Williams finished with three goals, two assists and four draw controls, while senior attack Justine Rothar (Levittown, N.Y.) scored a game-high eight points. Sophomore attack Carly Schneider (Merrick, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Kim Rigney (Holbrook, N.Y.) each scored three goals. Sophomore midfielder Kim Lehmann (Albertson, N.Y.) led defensively with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
For the Dolphins, Mitchell scored a team-high three goals, two assists, six draw controls and four caused turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Nicole Flores (Bethpage, N.Y.) finished the day with two goals and one assist. Sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) made eight saves in defeat.
Farmingdale State will host Manhattanville College next on Tuesday, April 5th in a non-conference game at 4:00 p.m.
