FDU-Florham              1

Farmingdale State         0

Farmingdale, N.Y. – A first half tally by FDU-Florham freshman forward Missy Setzer (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton) would prove to be the only scoring of the game in a close match up between the Farmingdale State Rams and the FDU-Florham Devils in today’s non-conference women’s soccer season opener in Farmingdale, N.Y.

The goal came at the 30 minute mark when junior midfielder Beth Root (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) passed up to Setzer and she tacked a shot into the bottom right corner for a 1-0 lead. Farmingdale put the pressure on throughout and in the second took a 7-5 shot advantage.

FDU’s junior goalkeeper Amanda Buyes (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) held strong in the net to finish with five saves for the win. Rams sophomore goalkeeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) played well for Farmingdale with seven saves on 11 shots.

Farmingdale State will host NYU on Wednesday, September 5th at 5:00 p.m. in another non-conference match up.
