Rams Fall to WNEC in Day 2 of Husson Classic

Bangor, ME ? Western New England College moved their record to 3-2 with a 4-0 win over Farmingdale State College (1-3) in day two of the Husson Women's Soccer Classic in Bangor, Maine. Heather Mortell (SO, Webster, MA) had two goals to pace WNEC.

Mortell opened the scoring midway through the first half when Lauren Sokol (Enfield, CT) served a pass from the left corner and Mortell shot it past goalie Nicole Zarek (SO, Massapequa, NY). The Golden Bears had plenty of good scoring opportunities in the first half with 7 shots but lead only 1-0 at the half.

Nine minutes into the second half Mortell scored her second goal off an assist from Angela Zguro (JR, East Longmeadow, MA). Heather Boino (JR, Dalton, MA) assisted on the last two goals, first setting up Shivaun Wheeler (JR, Southington, CT) and then Shannon Pescatello (SO, Wethersfield, CT).

WNEC goalie Jessica Covino (SO, Bristol, CT) finished with 7 saves. Zarek had 7 saves against 15 shots.
