Staten Island Takes Win from the Rams
Sep 12, 2007

Staten Island, N.Y. - Despite an early 2-0 lead, the CSI Dolphin's (2-2) came from behind to defeat Farmingdale State (1-4) in non-conference women's soccer action played Wednesday afternoon at the CSI Soccer Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.

The Rams started the game off on the offensive with a goal 1:17 into the game by sophomore midfielder Amanda Biondi (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip). Still coming on strong Farmingdale scored another goal about seven minutes later when sophomore forward Tricia Pickford (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) punched in a goal assisted by Biondi.

Just minutes after Farmingdale's starting sophomore goalie Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) was forced to leave the game due to injury, CSI's Fiosa Begai started the Dolphin's rally. At 38:05, Begai tallied her first goal via an Alyssa Pontecorvo and Lisa Gino assist. Less than two minutes later, Begai struck again with a pass off Kristin Kvetkoff to tie the game going into the second half.

With no goals from either team well into the second half and 7:33 left on the clock, Begai dribbled 30 yards from the left side to score the final goal of the game and lead the Dolphins to the 3-2 victory. CSI junior goaltender Tina Bellocchio finished the game with a total of 12 saves.

The Rams will host Manhattanville College this Saturday, September 15th at 1:00 p.m.
