Moravian - 3, Farmingdale State - 1

Bethlehem, Pa. - The Moravian College women's soccer team earned a 3-1 non-conference victory over Farmingdale State College on the HUB Quad Wednesday afternoon. The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute when sophomore forward Alessandra Valdetara (Butler, N.J./Butler) put a rebound in the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Moravian would extend its lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute when junior forward Tracy Fitzpatrick (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) drove it in and put her own rebound into the net for her seventh goal and fifth game winning goal of the year.

The Rams would cut Moravian's lead in half in the 76th minute when sophomore forward Christina Cascio (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) touched a free kick by sophomore forward Kristine Ostrem (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) from near midfield into the net on Farmingdale State's first shot of the match.

Fitzpatrick netted an insurance goal for Moravian in the 89th minute when she ripped a shot from 18-yards out over the keeper's head for her second goal of the match and eighth of the season. Freshman forward Mallory Goggins (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends School) set up Fitzpatrick with a short pass from the left side of the field.

Moravian had an 18-2 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in corner kicks. Greyhound junior goalie Caitlin Corrigan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge HS) did not make a save while posting her seven win of the season. Farmingdale sophomore goalkeeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook ) made six saves in the contest.

The Rams will play next when they host New Jersey City on Wednesday, October 3rd at 3:00 p.m.
