Farmingdale State, 2

Widener University, 1

Farmingdale, NY - Freshman forward Christina Cascio (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) scored the game-winner at 86:59 to lift Farmingdale State (2-4-2) over Widener (5-2-1), 2-1, in todays non-conference women's soccer game in Farmingdale, NY.

After a scoreless first half, Widener's junior forward Melanie Miller (Ardsley, PA/Bishop McDevitt) tipped in a pass from junior midfielder Samantha Hand (Millville, NJ/Millville) for the 1-0 lead at the 70:22 mark. Hand beat a Rams defender and then passed around the goalie for the easy tip-in by Miller.

Thirteen minutes later, Farmingdale State's freshman midfielder Amanda Biondi (West Islip, NY/West Islip) took a restart kick toward goal and freshman midfielder Jennifer Jung (New Hyde Park, NY/Herricks) scored with a header to tie the game at 1-1. The Rams scored the second goal at 86:59 after Biondi sent the ball just over the Widener defense and a racing Cascio lobbed a shot over the goalie for the game-winner (her second of the season).

Freshman goalkeeper Kimberly Sontag (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) made 10 saves in net for Farmingdale, while freshman Alee Gunter (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) made four saves in defeat.
