Welch Scores Two as Arcadia Defeats Rams

Arcadia University - 3, Farmingdale State - 1

Farmingdale, N.Y. – Farmingdale State was defeated by Arcadia University, 3-1, in a non-conference women’s soccer game in Farmingdale, N.Y. this afternoon.

Farmingdale freshman forward Rebecca Richman (West Islip, NY / West Islip) scored the games first goal at the 14:50 mark, giving the Rams the early 1-0 lead. Arcadia forward, Stephanie Welch (Port Murray, NJ / Moravian) answered five minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second half of this defensive game, Welch scored a goal on a penalty kick giving the Knights a 2-1 advantage. Sophomore Jenni Groves (Millville, NJ / Millville) would add the final tally with less than five minutes remaining to seal the victory for Arcadia.

Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Howard (Farmingdale, NY / Farmingdale) made six saves in the defeat for Farmingdale State and Arcadia’s goalie Jacquelyn Eckert made nine saves.

The Rams now travel to Polytechnic University for their second Skyline Conference game of the season on Thursday, September 25th at 7:00 pm.
