Rams Hold off Bard and Advance to
Championship

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Farmingdale State
women’s soccer team defeated Bard College, 3-2, in the
Skyline Conference semifinal game this afternoon in Farmingdale,
N.Y.
The Rams wasted no time in taking the early lead as freshman
forward Katrina Cerverizzo (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches)
scored the games opening goal only five minutes into the contest.
Farmingdale State would increase its lead to 3-0 at the 18:00 mark
following two goals from Rebecca Richman (West Islip, N.Y./West
Islip), both off feeds from Tricia Pickford (Massapequa,
N.Y./Massapequa). Bard's Mozhdeh Zahedi (Port Ewen, N.Y./Kingston)
would score a goal off a pass from Erin Hannigan (West Pittston,
Pa./Wymoming Seminary) in the 36th minute, cutting the Rams lead to
3-1.
Bard's Kim Larie (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) scored the games final goal off a scramble in front of the net with six minutes remaining in the game.
Farmingdale State freshman goalkeeper Amanda Maass (Mastic Beach, N.Y./William Floyd) recorded four saves in the victory, while freshman goalkeeper Jessica Philpott (Hot Springs, Va./Bath County) had six saves in the defeat for the Raptors.
The Rams now travel to St. Joseph's College on Sunday, November 10th for the Skyline Conference Championship game at 1:00 pm. The winner will advance to the NCAA Division III Championship tournament next week.
