Martorano and Merrill Named to ECAC Metro All-Star Team

Cape Cod, Mass. - The Farmingdale State women's soccer team had two players named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Metro All-Star Team. Freshman defender Theresa Martorano (Commack, N.Y./Commack) was named a First-Team All-Star, while freshman forward Christina Merrill (Levittown, N.Y./Island Trees) was selected to the Second-Team.

Martorano led Farmingdale's defense which was ranked number one in the Skyline, with 15 shutouts and a 0.85 goals against average. The Rams allowed only a single goal in nine Skyline Conference games. Martorano, who started every game for Farmingdale State, also contributed with three goals and three assists.

Merrill, who played in every game for Farmingdale, scored seven goals and had Skyline Conference leading 10 assists on the year.  She held a 0.43 assist per game average, which was ranked third in the conference. Merrill was second on the team and eighth in the Skyline with 24 points. In Skyline Conference games, Merrill was the leader with eight assists in nine games played, second in points (20), second in points per game (2.22) and ninth in goals per game (0.67).
