Farmingdale, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Lauren Bulk's (Portsmouth, R.I.) unassisted goal with 8:22 remaining led Salve Regina to a 1-0 victory over Farmingdale State on the second day of the Rams Classic.
In a scoreless, evenly matched first half, both teams attempted six shots and the Seahawks (1-1) held a 5-2 corner kick advantage.
Farmingdale State (1-1) senior goalkeeper Stacey Rao (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) made a diving save on the shot by freshman forward Melissa Figueiredo (East Bridgewater, Mass.) before the ball rebounded in front and Bulk netted the game-winning score for Salve Regina.
Rao and freshman Breanna Blair (Littleton, Colo.) split time in goal for the Rams and recorded six and three saves, respectively. Junior goalie Jacqueline McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) made five saves in the win for the Seahawks.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Skidmore on Saturday, September 8th for a non-conference game at 1:00 p.m.
